West San Fernando Valley’s Silverstein qualifies to challenge LA City Councilman Blumenfield

It’s looking like Los Angeles City Councilman Bob Blumenfield will be challenged by businessman Scott Silverstein for the right to represent L.A.’s Third Council District in the southwestern San Fernando Valley.


Silverstein qualified Monday, March 14, to appear on the June 7 primary ballot against Blumenfield, 54, who was first elected to the seat in 2013, representing Winnetka, Reseda, Canoga Park, Tarzana and Woodland Hills.


Silverstein, who runs a commercial real estate brokerage focused on the western San Fernando Valley, served on the Warner Center Neighborhood Council for 14 years.

His campaign website touts his leadership in rebuilding governance of El Camino Real Charter High School after the school was shaken by allegations of financial mismanagement that sparked oversight issues at the campus.
